It's been rumored that everyone's favorite butter-loving cooking show hostess will soon announce that she suffers from Type II diabetes. Could this be an opportunity for Ms. Deen to find a second career as an advocate for making healthy lifestyle changes? With her larger-than-life personality and contagious laugh you can't help but take notice when she's on the screen.
A clue about what message Paula Deen will be sending in the future?

Paula Deen is in a unique situation where she can influence a great number of people and lead by example using her show as her stage. Will she be ditching the sticks of butter in favor of olive oil? Will baking and grilling take the place of deep frying in Paula's kitchen? Is there a low-fat cookbook in Paula's future?
Will scrambled egg white omelettes be taking the place of bacon burgers served on glazed donuts at Paula's next brunch?

Only time will tell if Paula Deen will find a second career as The Food Network's next healthy meals hostess.
Do you think fans would tune into a show called "Paula's Healthy Kitchen"?
*It's been rumored that Paula Deen has already penned a deal with a drug company to act as a spokesperson for a drug to treat her condition.

It will be interesting to see how that plays out. I remember watching one of her shows when she was trying to make something low fat because of her husbands heart condition ...instead of using a stick of butter she used half a stick???? and sour cream and a few other ingredients. We'll see!
ReplyDeleteI read she has signed a deal with a drug company to promote their toxic drugs. I don't like her anyway. I really dislike her accent, her attitude and her recipes/cooking are about the un-healthiest I have ever seen on TV.
ReplyDeleteShe has an opportunity to do the right thing, to tell everyone that crap foods leads to health issues but instead going to make money from the drug company.
I love Paula Deen. I've only ever made one of her recipes and that was a ham for Christmas one year. It was great. Her show and others on the food channel are like food porn for some people. It looks awesome, probably tastes wonderfully but you are smart enough to know that eating that way all the time is not great for you.
ReplyDeleteAnd why is it ok to scrutinize what Paula has been cooking but guys like Mario Batali and Emeril or Guy Fieri (who are larger men) don't get the same b.s.? This is a woman who didn't have anything had to support her two kids and turned it into an empire. You can't expect her to suddenly go "well that stuff that I've done for all these years yeah well it's crap now." To me that would be fake. (not ranting at you but yesterday twitter was alive with a bunch of trainers ripping her apart because of this)
and yes I think people would turn into a healthy cooking show with her. I think it's more of her personality that some people love than what she actually cooks. Or her hot sons. lol.
I would absolutely NOT listen to ANY advice that Paula Dean has. She is ridiculous. Her thing is heavy butter and sugar and that's HER thing, so she can not come and start doing something different all of a sudden. It's so classic american. Do what you want until you get a diagnosis, then make a change. How pathetic.
ReplyDeleteI saw her on Dr. Oz a bit back & she is a smoker & was going to let DR. Oz help her stop smoking BUT she said she was not going to give up her love of food. I guess we will see if this changes that. I don't like the whole sign with a drug company thing though. I know people that have Diabetes need drugs depending on how bad BUT can get off them, again depending medically, by improving their food & active lifestyle. That is what she should use her fame for - living healthy & getting OFF drugs for this condition.
